TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

South Tucson Police ask the public's help in finding the family of a man who died in a hit-and-run early Saturday morning.

Police arrived at the scene, near 5th Avenue and 31st Street at 7:45 a.m. and found a man lying in the road with life-threatening injuries. He was transported to the hospital where he later died, according to a news release.

The South Tucson Detective Unit determined that the man had been chased and intentionally struck by a vehicle, which fled the scene before police arrived, according to Jeff Inorio with South Tucson Police.

Inorio said a confidential source helped lead them to a possible location of the suspect and victim. Pima County Regional SWAT and detectives served a search warrant to a home in the 300 block of E. 30th Street and arrested 44-year-old Alkila Bonds into the Pima County Jail on charges of first degree murder and weapons misconduct.

The victim has been identified as Jerod Anthony Chaney, 40. Detectives have tried to reach his family members. They said he might have family in the Memphis, Tenn. area. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
