DAUFUSKIE ISLAND, SC (WTOC) -

The county council for Daufuskie Island met on Monday night and voted unanimously to pass a resolution.

They agreed to submit an application to the South Carolina Department of Transportation for a dollar to dollar matching grant in the amount of $75,000, for ferry service to and from the island.

Last year, the council approved $150,000 to go toward the Daufuskie Island Ferry, which currently runs only twice a day. The county's current contract for the ferry expires at the end of June.
