SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg police were unable to locate two bandana-clad, would-be robbers who were scared off by a check cashing store's locked door, police said.

Police said an employee at the Check Into Cash store on East Main Street hit their alarm button about 1:30 p.m. Saturday when she though two men may try to hold up the store.

The clerk told police she had locked the store waiting for another employee to return from lunch when she saw a car pull in and park.

According to the police report, the driver got out in a hurry and had on a yellow bandana. The clerk felt something was wrong as the man rushed the front door, so she hit the alarm button thinking the store would be robbed, according to the report.

The man tried several times to open the door then yelled to a second person who was out of the car to go back to the running vehicle, police said. That person was also wearing a bandana, police said.

The two got back in the car and drove off but officers were unable to locate them, police said. The report said officers spoke with an employee at the Papa John's next door who noticed the car and men wearing dark clothes, gloves and the bandanas.

Police said the men never showed a weapon and no one was injured, but anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
