GREENWOOD, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A 26-year-old man was sentenced on Monday for a 2013 armed robbery of a convenience store in Greenwood.

Eighth Circuit Solicitor David Stumbo said Keltron Kelley, of Greenwood, was sentenced to 15 years in prison at a plea hearing by Judge Thomas Hughston.

On June 5, 2013, Kelley approached the clerk outside the Hickory Point at 1401 South Main St. and ordered him inside at gunpoint, according to the solicitor's office.

The solicitor said Kelley then robbed the store of cash and cigarettes and left, only to return a moment later and demand the clerk's car keys and steal his cell phone.

Kelley fled after the clerk refused to give him the keys to his car.

He must serve 85 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for release, because the conviction is classified as violent.

The conviction also counts as a "strike" under the state's repeat offender law.
