GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A little more than a month after a fire broke out in the kitchen of Wild Wing Cafe in downtown Greenville, the popular restaurant is ready to reopen.

Since March 19, crews have worked to clean up and repair the damage caused by the fire in the West Washington Street building.

Firefighters said employees were getting ready for the day in the kitchen area when they noticed a gas leak, which turned to flames. He said the gas company had to come in and turn off the gas before firefighters could battle the flames that spread to the roof and HVAC system.

Employees said they are ready to welcome back their customers when the restaurant and bar opens at 5 p.m. Friday.

"Looking forward to seeing all the regulars and old faces, and getting back to what we do best serving cold beer, hot wings and good times," said General Manager Alan Fields.
