GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

SWAT was called to a home in Greer on Tuesday after a man being served warrants barricaded himself inside, Greenville County deputies told FOX Carolina.

Lt. Tim Ridgeway said officers went to the house on Kings Mountain Drive in the Canebrake neighborhood to serve the warrants when the man became agitated and wrestled with officers.

The man then locked himself in the house and told officers he would take his own life if they tried to come in, Ridgeway said.

Ridgeway said the man had three large dogs in the house with him which he was concerned would get hurt if the officers came into the house.

According to Ridgeway, around 8:30, they tear gassed the house and went inside where they found the man with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his leg.

He was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital where Ridgeway said he was in stable condition.

Ridgeway identified the man as 40-year-old Tony McDonald. According to Ridgeway, the man had warrants for harassment.

He said this was the second SWAT standoff with the man.
