MARION, NC (FOX Carolina) -

A Morganton man has been accused of stealing $2,000 worth of scrap metal from his employer, according to the McDowell County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said 40-year-old Bobby Lee Woody was employed at Morganton Pressure Vessels, on Alfredo Baglioni Drive in Marion, for about a year.

Between April 11 and April 14, Woody is accused of stealing a steel backing bar from a seam welder, 100 welding tips and welding nozzles, worth $2,000, according to Detective Billie Brown.

Brown said the equipment was destroyed after Woody sold it to a scrap yard for $108.

Woody has been charged with one felony count each of larceny by an employee and obtaining property by false pretense.
