A woman's grandson has been charged after police said he stole silver from her home early Wednesday morning.

Around 2:20 a.m. Spartanburg police responded to a house on Norwood Street after the victim reported seeing a dark figure in her home, according to Captain Regina Nowak.

The woman said items made of silver were stolen.

Nowak said the suspect was identified as the victim's grandson, 20-year-old Walter Barnette.

Warrants were signed for first degree burglary against Barnette, according to Nowak.

Nowak was transported to Spartanburg County Detention Center where he was also booked on wanted outstanding vandalism warrant, according to Nowak.
