Doctors say FedEx security guard shot at work will be ok after third surgery

Posted: Updated:

Brenda Bohannon got choked up when discussing the good news. Doctors said Christopher Sparkman will be OK.

"I don't like to see no killing. God didn't put us on earth to do that," said Bohannon.

Bohannon doesn't know Sparkman personally, but she's been following coverage of Tuesday's mass shooting at the Kennesaw FedEx facility where Sparkman, a security guard at the complex as well as four others were shot by coworker Getty Kramer.

"I have been watching ever since the beginning," said Bohannon.

Bohannon said she visits her mother every day at a facility across the street from where Sparkman is recovering. It is the same hospital that treated her sick father 30 years ago.

"They have wonderful doctors over at WellStar Kennestone Medical Center. They are great doctors.

Thursday Sparkman's wife Jamie released a statement.

"We have been overwhelmed by the show of support from the community. My husband, Christopher Sparkman, is out of surgery and by the grace of God, on the road to recovery. The recovery process will be a long one, but he will have the love and support of his family each step of the way.
I cannot express enough thanks for all the well wishes, prayers and care that Christopher has received. With that said, we ask for you to respect our privacy during this difficult time," wrote Jamie Sparkman.
