ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Police are looking for a 17-year-old Asheville graffiti artist who is wanted following an ongoing investigation into in vandalism and they said his social media posts helped investigators identify him.

On April 23, police arrested Chase Johnson and charged him with damage to property for "tagging" a business on Haywood Road. Police said his tag is EAWS and after he was released on bond, he kept tagging across West Asheville.

Asheville police said community resource officers continued to investigate and discovered Johnson was posting photos of his work and texting it to others at night. Sgt. Dave Romick with Asheville police said he would return to take better photos of the tags during the daylight hour.

According to Romick, he also posted photos of stolen spray paint from Kmart, possession of illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, handguns and a shotgun.

Police received a search warrants for a home on Johnston Boulevard, searching it Thursday. They said they confiscated illegal drugs and one weapon during the search.

Police said they were able to review Kmart surveillance video on charge Johnson with larceny of the spray paint and determined several of the places he tagged had "no trespassing" signs posted or were protected by fence, so additional warrants were obtained charging him with damage to property.

Johnson was not at home Thursday and is wanted on a total of 33 charges, police said.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Asheville Police Department at 828-252-1110 or Crime Stoppers 828-255-5050.
