ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

The streets of Asheville are alive with magic as the "Weekend of Wonder" unfolds on city stages, street sides and eateries.

The three-day event which wraps up Sunday night features performances from rising-local stars and world-renown legends of the magic world, including the multi award-winning Jeff McBride from Las Vegas, world champion close-up artist Michael Ammar, and Andrew Goldenhersh.

Creators Maxwell Blade and Jay Scott Barry said the event is a new, one-of-a-kind concept featuring family-oriented performances from a great group of performers.

"Of the top 20 magicians in the world, five of them literally are on this stage as part of this team in Asheville," Barry said.

Shows run throughout the day Saturday and Sunday in the Asheville Community Theater, but co-creator Maxwell Blade said the wonder doesn't stop on the stage.

"We will have street performers outside, wowing people as they visit downtown Asheville," Blade said. "Some of our close-up magicians will also be performing inside our partner restaurants The Mellow Mushroom, Olive or Twist and Lex 18."
