Truck fire shuts down southbound lanes on I-85

CARNESVILLE, GA (FOX Carolina) -

I-85 bas been blocked for over two hours Saturday afternoon after a freightliner caught on fire on the interstate.

Deputies with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened on the southbound lane near mile marker 164 just after 2 p.m.

As of 4 p.m. deputies said southbound lanes remained blocked as fire crews battled the fire.

Deputies said mechanical issues seemed to have sparked the fire.

No injuries were reported, but deputies said traffic was backed up for several miles.
