GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville County deputies are working to identify a man they said threatened to kill a manager then tried to steal cash from the store's register before fleeing.

Deputies said the attempted robbery happened at the Dollar General on Anderson Road on April 30.

An unknown man entered the store just after 9 a.m. and after a few moments, he began to threaten the manager saying he would kill the manager, according deputies.

He told him to open the cash register so he could steal the money inside, but the manager refused, deputies said. Deputies said the man never showed a weapon.

The would-be robber fled in a gray, four-door, late 80's/early 90's sedan that may be a Buick, deputies said.

Anyone with information on the man's identity or the attempted robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 864-23-CRIME.
