ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Anderson County deputies said they are investigating a shooting after a property owner shot at two potential thieves, one of whom was struck, on Wednesday morning.

Deputies said they were called to property along Walker Circle in Anderson after the owner saw two men trying to steal items.

The owner fired shots at them, hitting one of them and the other took off running, according to Lt. Sheila Cole.

Cole said the injured subject was taken to the hospital but his condition was not known. She said the other subject was located and detained for questioning.

Cole hopes that homeowners will not resort to such drastic measures unless they feel their life or the lives of others are in danger. She suggests to call 911 so that the sheriff's department can send deputies to respond.

As of Wednesday night, no charges have been filed on anyone.
