Aloft announces concerts, attractions, patriotic activities

SIMPSONVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The annual Upstate festival that fills the skies with hot air balloons announced its schedule and lineup of entertainers on Wednesday.

Aloft 2014 will be held May 23-26 at Simpsonville's Heritage Park, with 70 hot-air balloons, radio controlled air crafts, music and patriotic activities.

Organizers said the patriotic activities will be the key element at this year's Memorial Day festival, with a color guard presentation, special concert by the 208th Army Reserve Band and a flag retirement ceremony.

There will also be a professional slackline competition, where contestants will show off their skills on a 2 inch wide portable balance beam.

The festival will, of course, have music. The GHS Amphitheater Concert Series schedule is as follows:

Friday, May 23: HotChelle Rae, Timeflies

Saturday, May 24:Thompson Square, Ashley Monroe

Sunday, May 25: BluesTraveler, Spin Doctors

Monday, May 26: TheCatalinas, Lionz of Zion, The Fantastic Shakers

Tickets are on sale now at aloft.org for $16 per person.

At the festival gates tickets will cost $20 per person before 4 p.m. and $25 after 4 p.m.

Children under 36" tall get in free with adult admission purchase.

The admission includes concerts and amusement rides.
