Spartanburg Co. deputies seek suspect in apartment complex shooting

SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg County deputies were called to a shooting on East Blackstock Road on Friday night.

Lt. Kevin Bobo said a victim was shot after being confronted by two men.

The victim called 911 after he was wounded, according to Bobo.

According to incident reports, the victim was on his feet, clutching his abdomen and yelling for help when deputies arrived.

The victim told deputies he was in a breezeway of one of the apartment buildings to pick up a friend when a voice behind him said to ‘give it up,' according to incident reports.

At that point, the suspect turned and ran and the suspect starting shooting, according to incident reports.

The victim said he was hit on the first shot but the suspect fired a total of seven shots as he chased the victim through the complex.

The victim was taken to the hospital and deputies said they discovered blood in the second floor breezeway of building K and a bullet casing in the parking lot behind building D.

A resident at the apartment complex told deputies he heard the shots being fired, followed by the sound of breaking glass in his apartment, according to incident reports.

Reports state the resident then discovered a bullet on the kitchen floor near where a window had shattered.

Deputies said the investigation is ongoing and that no suspects had been named.
