SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies said a Spartanburg man faces a criminal domestic violence charge after a series of assaults were reported following an argument over food.

Deputies with the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office said they were called to an address on Kelsey Creek Road on Saturday, where they found the victim with visible injuries on her face, arms and back.

A witness at the scene told deputies the suspect, 33-year-old Joshua Wallace, started choking and slamming the victim's head on the floor after the victim told Wallace she was going to get something to eat and would not pay for his meal, according to incident reports.

The witness told deputies she broke up the fight and a short time later when Wallace left the home, the witness said she found the victim unconscious on the floor and called 911.

Deputies said they found evidence of the struggle in the kitchen, where they found a broken necklace, ripped shirt, and blood on the wall.

Wallace is being held in the Spartanburg County Detention Center on a $7,500 bond.
