GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Troopers said an 18-wheeler driving too fast for conditions rear-ended a pickup truck as both vehicles were headed south along Interstate 85 early Monday morning.

About 1:30 a.m. the two vehicles were driving south when troopers said a 2011 Mack truck rear-ended a pickup truck near Laurens Road and mile marker 48.

According to the Highway Patrol, the impact of the crash, rupturing the semi truck's fuel tank. The driver and passenger inside the pickup truck were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, troopers said.

The crash shut down two lanes of the interstate for several hours as crews worked to cleanup the scene.

Crews had the scene cleared by about 8 a.m.
