Motorcycle rider killed in head-on collision in Spartanburg Co.

SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The coroner was called to a fatal collision involving a motorcycle on Monday.

The crash was reported by Highway Patrol at 692 Hanging Rock Rd. in Spartanburg County at about 7:30 p.m.

Hanging Rock Road was shut down in the area at 8:30 p.m.

Highway Patrol said the motorcycle crossed the center line and struck the car head-on.

The motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers said he was not wearing a helmet.

The coroner's office identified the motorcyclist as 45-year-old Brian Hyder, of Inman.

The driver of the car was taken to the hospital. Her condition is not known at this time.
