Product Demonstration of Remote Monitoring Shoe Insert to Follow Presentation

FORT WORTH, Texas, May 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- MedHab, LLC., a privately held athletic and medical device company focused on the development of unique rehabilitative and sport-enhancing tools, announced today that Johnny Ross, President and Chief Executive Officer of MedHab and inventor of RPM2, will be presenting and delivering a product demonstration during the 7th International Conference on PErvasive Technologies Related to Assistive Environments (PETRA) on May 27 - 30, 2014, at the Hotel Aldemar Paradise Mare in Rhodes Island, Greece.

The presentation, titled, "Development of a Smart Insole Tracking System for Physical Therapy and Athletes," will discuss MedHab's remote technology, found in the company's RPM2 and StepRite devices, and how it assists healthcare professionals efficiently develop personalized physical therapy programs for their patients. The presentation will be in Room 1 on May 29th at 9:00 a.m. EEST during the "Usability and HCI Issues" session.

Following the presentation, Mr. Ross will provide a product demonstration of the smart insole tracking system, in Room 2 between 2:00 p.m.4:00 p.m. EEST during the "Healthcare and Industrial Innovations in Assistive Technologies" session. Mr. Ross will discuss how the device provides detailed measurements of the lower extremities and provides actionable and personalized feedback on a patient's gait, range of motion and pressure distribution so bilateral deficiencies can be identified, corrected and optimized.

The wireless smart insole tracking system technology was originally developed for MedHab's StepRite device to remotely monitor patients undergoing physical therapy for leg injuries. StepRite provides healthcare professionals a way to customize physical rehabilitation protocols to meet each patient's unique need, while minimizing imbalances and the overall risk of future injuries.

The remote monitoring, pressure sensing foot-bed device was further enhanced to develop RPM2, which has undergone extensive validity testing using today's clinical standards in gait analysis at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi. By maximizing bilateral equivalency, RPM2 provides athletes with a competitive edge by correcting improper mechanics, increasing performance and preventing injury.

Bilateral deficiency is marked by differentiating levels of strength between two sides of the body, which can lead to imbalance, injuries and muscle strains that negatively impact athletic performance and rehabilitation efforts. Because of the significant expertise and costs associated with examining this aspect of training, gait analysis is often overlooked. Bilateral deficiencies in patients and athletes can continue progressing during rehabilitation and strength training, respectively, until injury occurs. By proactively addressing this issue, patients and athletes can reverse imbalances and prevent future injuries.
