GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Mauldin firefighters were called to a Mexican restaurant along Woodruff Road on Thursday morning after a fire broke out.

FOX Carolina's crew at the scene said firefighters were cleaning up debris from the fire damage to Monterrey's, located at Woodruff and Garlington roads.

The restaurant's sign appeared to be charred and damage was visible inside the restaurant.

Firefighters said the sign's transformer burned out, sparking the fire. They said the fire did not spread into the restaurant, damaging the front of the restaurant mainly. They said there was water and smoke damage to the interior.
