GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Thursday marks the start of the BMW Charity Pro-Am golf tournament but with the wet, stormy weather, competitors hit the greens a little late.

The Round One tee times were supposed to start at 8:30 a.m. but officials delayed them until 12:30 p.m.

The annual tournament pairs professional Web.com tour golfers with amateurs and several celebrities. It takes place across three Upstate golf courses - Thornblade Country Club, Green Valley Country Club and The Reserve at Lake Keowee - through Sunday.

The rain also washed out one of the popular events featuring the celebrities. The Celebrity Walk of Fame presented by Piedmont Natural Gas was canceled because of the weather.

"There are significant logistics involved for this event, and the forecast is not going to provide the long window of suitable weather needed to get everything in place for a safe and enjoyable event," said Darin MacDonald, executive director of South Carolina Charities, Inc. "We're encouraging those who were hoping to see the celebrities tonight to join us at one of the golf courses this week."

Additionally, actor Oliver Hudson has withdrawn from the tournament due to illness.

The tournament is open to the public and starts at $10 for adults per day, per course. Tickets are for sale at the gate to each course each day. Click here for more information parking, prices and more.

The tournament raises money for several Upstate charities and aims to reach the $10 million mark of monies raised since 2001 this year.
