Richland County Sheriff's deputies have identified two men who were being sought in connection with a sexual assault last week.
Capt. Chris Cowan with the Richland County Sheriff's Department said both men are being cooperative in the investigation.
The names of the two men have not been released and Cowan did not say if they will be arrested or charged with a crime.
Deputies said the men gave a 20-year-old woman a ride home from Five Points last Friday morning.
During the drive, the woman was given water she believed was laced with a "date rape drug."
Deputies said the woman was then sexually assaulted by both men at her apartment on Southern Drive.
It's yet another crime that gives Stephanie Tew another reason to stay away from Five Points.
"I don't like it," Tew said. "I mean, it makes me feel unsafe, because this is a place where, obviously, we all come to have fun, and it doesn't feel safe anymore."
Cowan said even though the crime didn't happen in Five Points it began there.
"Nobody deserves nor asks to be sexually assaulted, asks to be assaulted, asks to be manipulated, asks to be taken advantage of, and that's exactly what happened in this case," Cowan said. "We believe, at some point, they actually provided her with a date rape drug in a cup of water, or what she believed to be a cup of water, and then took her to her apartment and sexually assaulted."
Cowan said they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
