The National Weather Service confirms that a tornado hit just south of uptown Charlotte on Thursday morning.
According to the report, an EF0 tornado hit along Arrow Pointe Boulevard.
"The tornado appears to have touched down at the dead end of Arrow Pointe Boulevard where an industrial officer where a glass panel was torn away," the National Weather Service (NWS) said. "A few trees knocked down and some tree debris tossed about."
"Meanwhile, a large awning was thrown or rolled near the office building," the NWS continued. "The tornado then crossed Arrowwood Road and downed about 15 trees with other trees partially topped.
That's when the NWS says the tornado lifted after it crossed a swampy region.
The NWS notes there was sporadic tree damage along each side of Interstate 77 in the area, but says this was likely the impact of the wind damage from a large thunderstorm cell which was moving north.
