Whooping cough identified at 2 Anderson Co. schools

ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Two cases of whooping cough have been identified at two Anderson County schools. 

In a letter sent to parents on Friday, the Department of Heath and Environmental Control said that the cases of the disease has been identified at Wren Middle and at Wren High School.

DHEC said people may have been exposed to the disease on or before May 16. 

Whooping cough, which is also referred to as pertussis, is an easily spread disease that affects the nose, throat, windpipe and lungs.
