Husband charged in wife's death denied bond

CLIFTON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Clifton man accused of shooting and killing his wife during a domestic dispute on her birthday has been denied bond.

Rusty Clevenger said Mitzi Yvonne Larson, 42, of Hawk Hill Road in Clifton, was pronounced dead in her home early Saturday morning.

Lt. Tony Ivey with the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office said deputies were called to the residence after the victim's husband, Michael Larson, called 911 just after midnight.

Ivey said that during an interview, Larson confessed he had shot Mitzi with a shotgun.

Larson has been charged with one count of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, Ivey said.

Larson is being held in the Spartanburg County Detention Center after being denied bond during a hearing late Saturday morning. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for July.

Clevenger said an autopsy showed died from the shot to her chest.
