WESTMINSTER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Upstate Animal Rescue Foundation of South Carolina is trying to locate a tranquilizer rifle to help them catch the dog referred to as "Piper."

The group said the stray dog was discovered roaming around Oconee County with a piece of metal ductwork stuck on its head Monday.

In a Facebook message posted Saturday afternoon, UARFSC members asked for fans of the page to put them in touch with someone with a rifle.

"We have a tranquilizer pistol, but we can't get close enough to Piper for an accurate shot with the tranquilizer pistol," the post said.

In an earlier post, the group said Piper seemed more relaxed Saturday than he had before, and was roaming in the company of a female dog.

"There are doctors and professionals on site that are watching Piper and his friend," The post said. "Traps are set and there is food and water placed all over the place."
