HENDERSONVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies in Henderson County have canceled a Silver Alert for an autistic man who went missing Sunday morning.

Keith Alexander Ray, 35, walked away from his home just before 5 a.m. and never returned, according to Captain Frank Stout with the Henderson County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies and emergency responders were searching the Pilot Mountain Road and Sugarloaf Ridge area, Stout said.

Deputies said a caller observed Ray walking in the area of Sugarloaf Baptist Church off of Ridge Road about 4 a.m. He was taken to the hospital for possible exposure and was later released to his caregiver after being checked out.
