SIMPSONVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Simpsonville Police are investigating a series of vandalisms reported in the Westwood community Sunday morning.

Deputy Chief Steve Moore said officers received several calls after residents on Seminole Drive noticed foul language and racial slurs had been spray painted on their cars, trash cans and other items near the side of the road.

Moore said traffic signs were also spray painted, and that the vandalism appeared to be random.

"It's unfortunate that someone would do this just a day after we held a community clean-up day in Westwood," Moore said.

On Saturday, Moore said police and volunteers picked up litter in the neighborhood and worked to beautify the creekside park on Alder Drive.

Moore said no suspects have been identified in the case so far and asked anyone with information to call the Simpsonville Police Department at 967-9536.
