Southbound I-85 traffic moving again after wreck cleared

GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Troopers said they do not know how a driver going too fast for conditions did not hit any other vehicles when she traveled across all three lanes of Interstate 85 Monday morning before overturning.

Cpl. Bill Rhyne with the Highway Patrol said at 7:05 a.m., a SUV headed south in the outside lane of I-85 tried to cross into the center lane, but as traffic was slowing in front of her, she switched back into the third lane.

Switching lanes, she hit the back of a Kia also traveling in the outside lane, causing her to cross across all the lanes of southbound traffic, Rhyne said. He said her SUV hit the center, overturning, and they do not know how she did not hit any other cars driving along the interstate at mile marker 54.5.

The woman was wearing her seatbelt, was injured and taken to the hospital, Rhyne said. He said the driver of the Kia was not injured and there was very little damage to his car.

The woman was cited with driving too fast for conditions.

Drivers headed from Spartanburg to Greenville experienced significant delays as two lanes of traffic were blocked. The scene was cleared about 8:30 a.m.
