ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

In a matter of hours, Asheville police said the same man robbed a hotel, a pharmacy and tried to rob a third drug store on Monday.

Police said the first holdup was about 12:55 a.m. at the Ramada Inn at 800 Fairview Rd. The thief stole cash from the front desk and fled, police said.

They said 23-year-old Stanley Wells tried to steal pain medication from the Walgreens on South Tunnel Road a little after 8 a.m., but he fled the store empty-handed.

Then about 9:20 a.m., police said he hit the Rite Aid on Riceville Road and was able to flee with prescription pills.

In all three cases, investigators said Wells implied he had a gun but never showed one.

On Friday, police announced the arrest of Wells. They said he is currently in custody at the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $20,000 bond.
