WALHALLA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

An Upstate mom is in jail after deputies said she tried to kill her husband by stabbing him in the back with a butcher knife and also choked her daughter.

Oconee County deputies said on April 7, Sumi Jenkins chased her husband through their Fair Play home with the knife, holding it to his throat and threatened to kill him.

She tried to stab him in the back as he tried to run away, deputies said. According to warrants, 31-year-old Jenkins also choked her 13-year-old daughter.

Warrants state she held her hands around the girl's neck, forcing down and preventing her from breathing.

Deputies said as investigators followed up on the case, charges of unlawful neglect of a child and criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature were filed against Jenkins.

She was arrested on Monday and released on bond.
