CLEMSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The man accused of stealing a car and leading Clemson police on a chase Tuesday was back in court on Thursday.

A judge issued Emanuel Montez Woodward, 17, a $10,000 bond during a hearing Thursday morning.

Chief Jimmy Dixon said Woodward, 17, was released from the city jail on the charges of failure to stop for blue lights, failure to stop on command and his second offense of driving under suspension.

Dixon said at 4:30 p.m., Woodward walked to a local convenience store and stole a car that was left running as the victim entered the store.

A Clemson police officer saw the car driving away and attempted to stop him but he sped away, Dixon said.

Woodward attempted to turn off Highway 88 in Anderson County, where he struck another vehicle, Dixon said.

Police lost sight of him at that time.

The suspect was later seen walking down Firetower Road, where he was arrested without incident, Dixon said.

The car theft victim, Tabitha Peppers, said she ran into the convenience store. She said her doors were locked, but the windows were open and she had left her keys in the console.

"I'm like, 'Oh my God, somebody the police, call the police!' That's basically how it went," said Peppers. "He was staring dead at me and kept on going like, 'I don't care.'"

Peppers said she will never leave her keys in the car again.

Dixon said Woodward is charged with grand larceny of an automobile, failure to stop for blue lights and driving under suspension.

Dixon said he is also a person of interest for theft at several Walmart stores on Monday night.
