GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Department of Social Services employee was arrested on the charge of driving under the influence on Wednesday.

Trooper Bill Rhyne with Highway Patrol said at 1:42 a.m. Stacia Lomax, 43 of Greenville, was stopped for crossing the center line on US 25.

Rhyne said a trooper conducted a field sobriety test and determined she was under the influence. He said she refused a breath test at the law enforcement center.

"I can confirm that she was an employee at the time of the arrest but her current employment status is undetermined," Marilyn Matheus, spokesperson for DSS.

DSS confirmed Lomax was in a state issued vehicle at the time of her arrest.

Matheus said any further action in terms of her employment would be determined through human resources.
