SENECA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies in Oconee County said they are hoping a new billboard will help shed some light on a 16-year-old cold case.

Sheila Ann Carver disappeared in June of 1998 from the Utica Mill Hill area in Seneca, according to public information officer Jimmy Watt with the Oconee County Sheriff's Office, and a new billboard has been erected in the Bountyland community asking for information about the disappearance.

On June 20, 1998, deputies said Carver was reported missing by her father.

According to investigators, the then 33-year-old Carver was last seen on June 16th, 1998 near the B & B Trailer Park where she lived with her boyfriend. Watt said Carver reportedly left the trailer park in a car with someone who dropped the woman off on Goodard Avenue. That was the last time Carver was seen.

None of Carver's remains have ever been found, so she is officially considered missing, but Watt said investigators believe Carver is dead and that foul play was involved.

Watt said press releases were sent out on the 15th anniversary of the case in 2013, announcing a total of $20,000 in anonymous rewards for information leading to the recovery of Carver's remains.

Carver's father, Bert, is behind the billboard, Watt said.

Sheriff Mike Crenshaw, who was one of the case's original investigators, said he has assigned a new deputy to review the Carver case and a handful of other unsolved cases in Oconee County.

"Mr. and Mrs. Carver deserve to know the whereabouts of their daughter so that they can give her a proper burial," Crenshaw said. "I ask anyone with information to call the Sheriff's Office."
