SIMPSONVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A long weekend of hot air balloons, live music, carnival rides and much more gets underway Friday at Aloft 2014.

Aloft 2014 will run through May 26 at Simpsonville's Heritage Park.

This year's festival will feature 70 hot-air balloons, which are expected to launch daily if weather permits. Launch windows are from 7 a.m. - 9 a.m. on Saturday and Monday, and 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. nightly. Radio controlled airplanes will also take to the skies, organizers said.

Organizers said patriotic activities will be the key element at this year's Memorial Day festival, with a color guard presentation, special concert by the 208th Army Reserve Band and a flag retirement ceremony.

A professional slackline competition will allow performers to show off their skills on a 2 inch wide portable balance beam, organizers said.

The festival will feature live music on multiple stages, with featured acts performing in the GHS Amphitheater Concert Series. That schedule is as follows:

Friday, May 23: Hot Chelle Rae, Timeflies

Saturday, May 24:Thompson Square, Ashley Monroe

Sunday, May 25: Blues Traveler, Spin Doctors

Monday, May 26: The Catalinas, Lionz of Zion, The Fantastic Shakers

Tickets purchased in advance at aloft.org for $16 per person.

Tickets at the gate will cost $20 per person before 4 p.m. and $25 after 4 p.m.

Children under 36" tall get in free with adult admission purchase.

The admission includes concerts and amusement rides.
