Greenville police investigate possible attempted child abduction.

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Greenville Police Department said they are investigating a possible attempted child abduction outside the Sterling School.

A fifth grade student claimed that as she was walking to school Friday morning, a man in a white pick-up truck attempted to grab her near the campus on John McCaroll Way, according to Johnathan Bragg with the Greenville Police Department.

Bragg said the incident happened between 7 – 7:15 a.m.

After the attempted abduction, the student ran to several teachers and reported the incident. Bragg said.

Bragg said officers are actively investigating and will have an officer posted on the campus for the remainder of the school day.

Bragg said parents of Sterling School students were notified about the incident by e-mail.
