ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

The Asheville Police Department is working to identify the suspect in a Friday bank robbery, who may have been involved in previous robberies.

Officers said the Hometrust Bank on Airport Road was robbed just before 10:30 a.m.

Sgt. Dave Romick described the suspect as a male, around 6' tall, with a thin build.

"He was wearing a black mask and orange gloves, black long sleeve shirt, a black ball cap, and cargo pants," Romick said. "The suspect held a knife in his hand during the robbery. He was last seen running to the wood line located north of the bank property with cash in hand."

Romick said no one was injured during the robbery.

"This is the second bank robbery this week in this area of South Asheville," Romick said. Investigators believe the two robberies are connected and it could be the same individual involved.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Asheville Police Department at 828-252-1110.
