WELLFORD, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies in Spartanburg County said a woman they had taken into custody on a bench warrant now faces additional charges after she slipped out of a patrol car and tried to run from deputies.

Deputies said the incident happened Friday on I-85 north near I-85 Business while they were transporting Maranda Alloway to the Spartanburg County Detention Center.

Deputies said Alloway began shaking in the back seat and told them she was going to throw up.

Deputies said they pulled over onto the side of the road and rolled down the back window of the patrol car.

Instead of getting sick, deputies said Alloway, slipped one of her hands out of the handcuffs, slid through the window opening and started running toward the wooded area fronting the interstate.

A deputy was able to catch up to Alloway, grabbed her by the hair, and yanked her to the ground, according to incident reports.

Deputies said Alloway continued fighting to get away all the way back to the patrol car.

In addition to the bench warrant, Alloway was charged with escape and resisting arrest.

Transport was completed back to the jail without incident and warrants were sought for escape and resisting arrest. She's being held in the Spartanburg County Detention Center on a $12,000 bond.
