HENDERSONVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies with the Henderson County Sheriff's Office said a woman has been charged following an armed robbery attempt inside an Ingles supermarket.

Chief Deputy Frank Stout said deputies were called to the Ingles on Brevard Road in the Etowah community just after 9 a.m. Saturday.

Stout said a 911 call from the store indicated someone wearing a camouflage mask was in the store with a gun.

Stout said deputies arrived to discover that Ingles employees had detained the suspect, identified as Shirley Burgess Stepp, 38, of Pisgah Forest.

Stepp was charged with Attempted Robbery with Dangerous Weapon after she used a BB pistol resembling a semi-auto handgun and tried to rob the store, Stout said.

Stepp is being held in the Henderson County Detention Facility under $80,000 bond and is due in court on Tuesday.

No one in the store was hurt in the robbery attempt, Stout said.
