SIMPSONVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A grand jury indicted Simpsonville Mayor Perry Eichor on Tuesday, Gov. Nikki Haley's Communication Director Doug Mayer confirmed to FOX Carolina.

State investigators arrested Mayor Perry Eichor in late April on several charges "in connection with implied threats against a municipal court judge," according to SLED.

The State Law Enforcement Division filed charges against Eichor on obstruction of justice, intimidation of a court official/juror/witness and misconduct in office/malfeasance, according to the court.

Mayer did not confirm which charge(s) Eichor was indicted on.

"I'm 79 years old. I'm a little old to be threatening anyone," said Eichor following a city council meeting in April.

Eichor said he has no plans to resign.

Mayer said that he expects to receive a signed copy of the indictment on Wednesday. At that point the governor will suspend Eichor, pending the trial proceedings.
