Maya Angelou honored as part of freedom center exhibit
Assia Johnson from The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center talks about Maya Angelou's impact on the freedom center and the world.
Given the recent passing of legendary poet and author Maya Angelou, it is important to remember that there is a tribute to her work and legacy right here in Cincinnati.
And Still We Rise: Race, Culture and Visual Conversations is an exhibition at The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center that tells the tale of 400 years of history through 85 handcrafted story quilts.
To honor Angelou, the freedom center created a walk-through of three story quilts that celebrate her work toward equality and peace.
The entire exhibition is on display through September 1. This exhibit is included in the price of general admission.
