ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Asheville Fire Department Capt. Jeff Bowen who died in a 2011 blaze will be honored at a Buncombe County memorial dedication on Saturday.

A ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. to add a line of duty plaque for Bowen. He is the 19th person to be added to the Buncombe County memorial.

The ceremony will take place in front of the county courthouse facing College Street and will feature speakers including District Attorney Ron Moore and Fire Chief Scott Burnette.

Bowen was a 13-year veteran of the Asheville Fire Department who died while responding to a four-alarm fire after calling for help while fighting the fire on the fifth floor of the 445 Biltmore Ave. medical building on July 18, 2011. The fire was ruled an arson.

To honor Bowen, the Smoky Park Bridge was renamed to the Capt. Jeff Bowen Bridge in 2012.
