TRAVELERS REST, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Travelers Rest police said an officer used a less lethal way to take a woman into custody on Thursday after they were called to a local home.

Police chief Lance Crowe said officers were called to a home on Summitbluff Drive about a woman with a gun.

Eventually an officer took her into custody and she was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital for evaluation, Crowe said.

He said they have requested the State Law Enforcement Division's help to conduct an independent investigation and would not release any additional information about the case.
