SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg police said someone cut the rope and stole the American and South Carolina flags flying in front of the downtown airport.

An employee at the airport notified an officer on Thursday that sometime between 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30 a.m. Thursday, the flags were stolen.

The flags were on the pole in front of the airport's terminal building, which is located on Ammons Road.

Police said the rope appeared to have been cut and the flags removed. The airport had new flags flying on Friday.

Anyone with information on the theft should call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
