A Phoenix man faces three counts of child abuse for what he said was a way to discipline his son.
Sampson Kamara chopped up hot peppers, mixed them with water, heated them in the microwave and put the mixture in his 11-year-old son's eyes, according to the police report.
Investigators said the child was also whipped with a belt and a TV extension cord on several occasions, the police report states.
Police said his father learned the boy had taken candy from his teacher and he held his son home from school for two days.
When the boy returned to school, he told a staff member about the alleged abuse and police and Child Protective Services were called.
Police said when they attempted to interview Kamara, he indicated that he did not speak English, however, Kamara has been in the U.S. for 10 years and had made English-speaking police reports to the Phoenix Police Department since 2005, police said. CPS and his children all stated that Kamara does speak English.
