Spring storms downed trees, flooded yards, clogged gutters

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

When the rain came down and clouds rolled in, some gutters gushed, but others clogged.

"I noticed that my front yard was washing away with all the heavy rains," David Jones said.

He lives in Taylors and said Friday afternoon he came home to a flooded yard.

"It was just the gutters getting clogged up with all the big trees and leaves around," Jones said. "I just purchased this home about a month ago and in the process of renovating."

Now, he's worried water damage and dirty ditches could set him back a bit.

"Well, there's a crawl space and partial basement with water in it," he said.

And the steady rain and claps of thunder shook Linda Campbell's nerves too.

"I was nervous and then heard that big thunder boom," Campbell said.

That's because she is dealing with more than water woes.

"It was a big ole' tree, it was big tree - huge," she said.

The tree smashed her cars and is now cut into pieces scattered throughout her yard.

"It fell all the way across straight in the backyard," she said.

The tree and Campbell became victims of a storm that whipped through the Pinckney area of Greenville Thursday night.

"I couldn't believe it. I said, 'what!'" Campbell recalled when she saw the tree.

So, from downed trees to dirty drains and ditches, spring storms could make for a long summer.
