SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Spartanburg Co. deputies have charged a woman with unlawful neglect of a child after four children were found in a home with no power, no food and living in unclean conditions, according to a report.
Elaina Lee Oswald, 30, is behind bars awaiting a bond hearing after a deputy was called to her home on Geddes St. in Spartanburg after a complaint came that the home had no power and that the family was living in a "filthy and deplorable home."
The report said the deputy went into the residence and found bare cupboards, an empty refrigerator, bugs everywhere including in the children's beds. The deputy said he also found exposed nails in the flooring and said the house smelled foul.
The deputy placed the children in protective custody, and Oswald was arrested.
The children ranged in age from 1 to 7 years old.
