ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -
American Idol winner Caleb Johnson is back home in Asheville for the weekend ahead of beginning his first album and going on the Idol tour.
Johnson will be back in the recording studio following a short break and will be rehearsing for the tour. He told FOX Carolina he has not had a chance to start laying down tracks for the album yet.
He said his life has been a whirlwind of sorts since winning the competition, and he described the moments after his name was announced.
"[I] went back on stage, finished it, was crowned the winner, was rushed backstage down to a dressing room and was met by the label, the executives and said 'Hey, now it's time to work,'" Johnson recalled. "And I was like 'Oh, wait, I was doing this,' and they said 'No, this is where the real work starts.'"
Johnson recently went to prom with his runner-up Jena Irene, but denied rumors that they are an item. He said it is a "brother/sister" type of relationship.
