ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Children at an Asheville hospital were in for a surprise on Monday afternoon when superheroes appeared outside their windows with squeegees in hand.

Mission Health arranged for their window cleaners to come dressed as Iron Man, Spider-Man, the Green Lantern, Batman and Catwoman.

FOX Carolina was there when the children welcomed the heroes with handmade signs.

"When I work here normally I look in these windows. It affects me deeply. It's good to come over here and actually see a smile on their face and cheer them up," said Daniel Coronell, aka Batman.

It was the first time Coronell and his colleague Sam Moses, aka the Green Lantern, had dressed up in costume in the eight years on the job.

"All you have to do is see their faces. And then you get the real true importance of it. It's really great," Moses said.
